438,456. Sharpening saws. WAGNER, K., WAGNER, L., WAGNER, E., and WAGNER, F., (trading as WAGNER MASCHINENFABRIK, G.), 11, Opfersteinstrasse, Reutlingen, W³rtemberg, Germany. May 18, 1934, No. 15138. [Class 60] A machine for sharpening circular saws comprises a standard 1 on which is mounted a slide 2, movable in guides on the standard, and carrying a slide 3 adjustable on the slide 2 by a screw 7 and either carrying directly the bearing 16 for the spindle of a grinding-disc 10, or carrying an arc-shaped guide 15 along which the bearing 16 may be moved so that alternately chamfered teeth may be ground. The axis of the bearing 16 lies substantially in the central plane of the slide 2 when the bearing is secured direct to the slide 3, and in that plane when at the central position on the guide 15. The slide 2 is lifted and lowered by means of a rotating eccentric 17, which operates through a lever 18, a body 19 adjustable, to vary the stroke of the slide, by a screw 20, and levers 22, 23 to lift and lower the pin 4 attached to the slide. In order to vary the stroke on successive, or predetermined lifts, when sharpening saws with roughing and finishing teeth, the lever 23 carries a lever 27 moved by a tapered and adjustable cam 29 so that an arm 28, moved with the lever 27 and engaging the lever 22, causes a predetermined additional lift of the slide. The saw 14 is locked during grinding of the teeth by a device 11 and is unlocked for feeding forward by a pawl 13, by an eccentric 32 which operates through a lever 33 and a roller 34 adjustably carried by a screwed spindle 36.
