1435494 Sharpening and setting saw teeth A F SIMS 6 Aug 1973 [22 May 1972] 23942/72 Heading B5L A handtool for sharpening and setting teeth of a saw blade comprises a saddle 1 for supporting the handtool on an edge portion of the saw blade, saw tooth sharpening means linked to the saddle and capable of performing reciprocating movement with respect to the saddle, and sawtooth setting means attached to the saddle for setting a sawtooth at a preselected angle with respect to the saw blade. As described the saddle has a longitudinal slot 2 for receiving the saw blade, and recesses 7 and 18. The sharpening means comprises a file carried by straps 19, 20 fixed to a rod 21 which is slidable in a recess in a bracket 16 secured to the saddle. The file is reciprocated by a handle 25 and is angularly adjusted by a screw 22. The setting means comprises an anvil 3 and a ram 10 which can be moved to press a sawtooth against the anvil 3 by means of a handle 5. The ram is urged away from the anvil by a spring. The anvil has a plurality of surfaces at different angles, any one of which can be brought opposite the ram 10 by longitudinal adjustment of the anvil, so as to vary the setting angle.
