Abstract

735,016. Feeding sheets. PEARCE, H. R. Dec. 2, 1953, No. 33493/53. Class 100 (1). Sheet-separators.-Sheets of paper are dispensed from a pile 7 in a closed container 1 by inserting a pencil or the like 16 into the container to actuate the sheet-separating mechanism. The top of the container comprises a hinged cover 3, and a fixed part 2 having a tubular element 15 to receive a pencil &c. A friction separator 9 of rubber is carried by an arm 8 pivoted at 10 to a bracket 11 secured to a spindle 12 which is pivoted in the side walls of the container. The arm 8 is urged to the position shown by a spring 13 on the pivot 10. The pencil 16 depresses a plate 14 secured to the spindle 12, and the separator means is retracted to the dotted line position. On release, the spring 13 restores the separator to the normal position, and the top sheet is pushed through a gap 6, the front edge of the sheet sliding up an inclined surface 17.
