Abstract

Common salt compositions which do not agglomerate under the influence of moisture comprise common salt and finely-divided, precipitated calcium silicate or hydrated silica. The compositions usually contain 0.5-5 per cent of the calcium p silicate or hydrated silica, which is preferably of particle size less than 0.1 micron. There is described the preparation of suitable calcium silicate by mixing solutions of Na2O(SiO2)2-4 and calcium chloride, and of suitable hydrated silica by adding hydrochloric acid, and then sodium hydroxide solution, to a slurry of calcium silicate obtained by the turbulent mixing of solutions of Na2O(SiO2)3.6, calcium chloride and sodium chloride.ALSO:Common salt compositions which do not agglomerate under the influence of moisture comprise common salt and finely divided, precipitated calcium silicate or hydrated silica.
