734,730. Seed-sowing machines. PALM, G. H. July 24, 1953 [July 24, 1952], No. 20654/53. Class 6 (1). A seed-sowing machine, of the type having a seed-container 2 with a delivery roller 4 at its base, the roller having peripheral grooves interconnecting seed-pockets 6 whereby the seeds are carried around to an outlet at the rear of a share 9, is characterized in that-the axle 15 of a pressure wheel 14, carried in a fork 13 pivoted on a horizontal spindle 12 on the container, is adjustable in slots 16 in two arms 17 pivoted on a further horizontal spindle 18 on the seed container, for the purpose of varying sowing depth. The machine is towed by a drawbar 11 which carries a track-clearing tool 27 on an arm 25. Side-wings 23 extend laterally from the share 9 to form a windguard for the seeds deposited. A chain 22 trailingly surrounds the rear of the pressurewheel to scrape loose earth over the seeds, when pressed down, a scraper 21 being arranged to contact the wheel surface to clean it. Within the hopper, blades 28, having points which enter the grooves, prevent more than one seed from entering each pocket 6.
