[Also in Groups XXXI and XXXIII] Means for deriving energy from the relative air-flow round a moving vehicle comprises an open-ended duct C mounted on the vehicle and having bearings to support a shaft P upon which are mounted opposed semi-cylindrical vanes Q, rotated by the relative air flow indicated by arrows. In the embodiment described, there are a number of ducts arranged in alignment on an aircraft and a common shaft P is connected by gearing to an auxiliary propeller to aid forward propulsion.
