Abstract

Class 110 (3). ,[Also in Group XXXIII] A helicopter comprises a jetdriven rotor and at least one horizontal axis propeller driven by a fuel burning gas turbine plant, at least one turbo-driven compressor separate from the gas turbine, which supplies compressed air to the propeller turbine and to the rotor, and means for controlling the distribution of air from. the compressor between the propeller turbine and the rotor. As shown in Fig. 3, each compressor has two turbine rotors 18, 20, one driving a compressor 19 to feed the combustion chambers 23, and the other driving a compressor 21, whose output is fed by ducts 29 to the rotor, and by' duct 27 to the propeller turbines. Valves 28 and 30 are provided so that the distribution of air between the propellor turbines and the rotor can be regulated.
