Dec. 1, 1954 [Sept. 1, 1953[, No. 18271/53. Class 110(3) [Also in Group XXXIII] Gas turbine plant for use with a helicopter rotor A provided with jet propulsion nozzles F2 at the tips of the rotor blades comprises a casing rigidly secured to the hub B of the rotor for rotation therewith and a compressor-turbine asembly, consisting of a two stage centrifugal compressor C having an air intake C' and a two stage turbine C<SP>3</SP> having rotors D, mounted on a shaft D<SP>2</SP>. The combustion chamber C<SP>2</SP> is the cyclone type and a portion of the air from the first stage of the compressor is by-passed through ducts E to the turbine to mix with the products of combustion which pass through a diffuser F to the ducts F<SP>1</SP> in the rotor blades. An extension K from the shaft D<SP>2</SP> may be used to drive auxilaries. The interconnected lift rotor and casing may rotate in the same or the opposite direction as the rotor shaft D<SP>2</SP>. In an alternative arrangement the rotor blades are pivotally mounted on the rotor hub so that the ducts leading to the rotor blades comprise flexible portions. A plurality of radially disposed combustion chambers may be used instead of the cyclone type.
