A fluid-pressure relay for producing a control pressure which may be applied, for example, to a diaphragm-actuated valve or a measuring instrument consists of inlet and outlet nozzles 7, 8 in the wall of a pressure chamber 5, and closure members 11, 12 urged by a spring 16, Fig. 1, or 28, Fig. 5, into engagement with the nozzles, deflection of a member carrying the closure members resulting in that member tilting about one nozzle to open the other. According to Fig. 1, the closure members are adjustably carried by a U-shaped member 13 which is located laterally with respect to the nozzles by a leaf spring 17 fixed to a pin 15 and is arranged to be tilted by a spring-link connection 18 with a U-shaped lever 19 spanning a recess 4 in the base of the chamber 5 and secured to the ends of shaft 20 which extends on either side of the recess 4. Fixed to the shaft 20 within the recess 4 is a lever 23 actuated by a pressureresponsive diaphragm 30. The ratio between the levers 19, 13 may be varied by using members 26 of different lengths. The member 13 may be T-shaped, instead of U-shaped, or, as shown in Fig. 5, may be a straight member connected directly to the U-shaped lever 19. The pressure-responsive diaphragm of the relay may be subject to the outlet pressure of a pressure-regulating valve and the chamber 5 connected to a diaphragm which operates the pressure-regulating valve. Alternatively, as shown in Fig. 9, the diaphragm of the relay may be subject to a constant pressure derived from a conduit 32 and may have connection through a spring 49 and lever 48 with the movable member of a controlled valve whereby the latter is maintained in a required position despite variations of pressure acting on its valve proper 38. The relay may be responsive to temperature or liquid level instead of pressure or may be operated by an electromagnet.
