732,816. Vehicle couplings. HITCHCOCK, J. C. July 20, 1954 [Aug. 19, 1953], No. 22839/53. Class 103 (5). A tractor, having a hook 10 which may be lowered to engage a conventional eye-type coupling on a trailer, may be provided with a draw-bar attachment which will enable it to be connected to other types of trailer couplings. A trailer having a bifurcated coupling 13 may be connected by a pin-and-slot arrangement to a plate 3 forming part of the draw-bar, which drawbar also comprises side members 1 attached by means of a pin 6 to extensions 11 of the hook, and a cross-rod 2 which in the coupled-up position engages within the hook. If, however, the trailer has an eye coupling, then the eye is brought under the draw-bar to lift it about the pin 6 to enable the eye to engage the hook.
