Abstract

732,764. Rotary pumps. TURNER, J., LOWRY, T. H.; and CAIN, H. D. Nov. 11, 1953, No. 31204/53. Drawings to Specification. Class 110 (2). A pump comprises a bladed rotor having spring-loaded ejector pieces adapted to slide between the blades of the rotor to control the capacity thereof. The ejector pieces are mounted on a slider which is keyed to the rotor shaft and engages a cam surface for operating purposes. The pump is driven by any kind of prime mover and recirculates light oil'or a special preparatiom from a tank to at least one driven unit provided for power take-off purposes. The driven unit, comprises a bladed rotor disposed in a cylinder which is in communication with the tank and the outlet of the pump. The driven unit is bolted directly to the pump or to a distance-piece connected thereto. A valve-controlled conduit is disposed beween the tank and the outlet of the pump to ensure a supply of fluid thereto and a valve-controlled by-pass conduit is disposed between the said outlet pipe and the tank. Both sets of rotor blades embody Spring- loaded tip portions fitted into longitudinal grooves disposed in body portions. Bearings and sealing means are provided as necessary.
