Abstract
732,182. Metal heating furnaces. METROCUTANIT, Ltd. May 8, 1953 [Oct. 1, 1952], No. 12952/53. Class 51 (2). [Also in Group XXII] In the sintering of a turbine disc 1 made from titanium-carbide with low melting auxiliary metals, the compacted disc is mounted on a tungsten shaft 10 supported in box of molybdenum sheet 9. The assembly is then inserted in an electric furnace having double walls 2, 3 through which cooling water is circulated, and a removable cover with a peep-hole 5. The shaft 10 is rotated from an external source 12 through a shaft 13, passing through a gland 14 and a molybdenum coupling 15. The heating is effected by molybdenum heating conductors 6 supplied through water-cooled cables 7. Baffle plates 8 are provided.
