Abstract

731,856. Brushes. WESSEL, H. Dec. 23, 1952, No. 32559/52. Class 19. A brush for cleaning tubes, e.g. gun-barrels, comprises a cylindrical rigid support c on which is mounted a cylindrical body a of soft rubber carrying the bristles b. The support c is so shaped that only the ends of the body a rest on the support. The support c has one end which is integral with the support and has an inwardly projecting threaded socket q in which a rod is fixed, while the other end is provided with a member n screwing into the support c. Annular grooves h are provided in the body a to increase its resiliency and further longitudinal grooves k, Fig. 2, are arranged between the rows of bristles. The brush body is produced from a moulded flat piece of rubber already provided with holes for the reception of the bristles and with the grooves k, and is bent to form a hollow cylindrical body, the ends l being joined together by vulcanization. The bristles b may be inserted before or after the bending operation.
