[Also in Group XXXIV] A railway tipping wagon comprises a chassis 14 on which is pivotally-mounted a tipping body 10, hand-releasable catch mechanism 22, 22a, 23 to hold the wagon body in upright position until discharge of the load is required, and tie-rods 20 extending longitudinally of the chassis below the axles, each tie-rod being provided with springs 30 which engage resiliently axle bearing-boxes 17 when the body 10 is completing the tipping operation, whereby adverse effects to the parts of the wagon caused by tipping are reduced. The body 10 is provided with stops 28 which engage end faces 13a of support-members 13 when the body is tipped and springs 28c may be provided to reduce the shock of impact. The body 10, as shown, is supported at each end by a semi-circular rocker member 11 in rolling engagement with a track plate 12 mounted on a support member 13. The member 11 has pins 11a which co-operate with spaced grooves 31a on a transverse bar 31 to prevent sliding of the rockers upon the track-plates 12. The wagon is provided at one end with a frame consisting of uprights 37 and transverse bars 37a whereby a shunter by placing the end of a shunting pole over brake lever 36c, inserting the pole under an appropriate transverse bar 37a, and bearing down on the pole, can obtain increased brake pressure.
