[A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Jan. 31, 1934.] [Class 103 (vi)] In order substantially to equalize the load on all the wheels of a two-axle railway vehicle bogie, the underframe 10 is supported by a transverse load distributing or spring system comprising laminated springs 7 bearing upon an intermediate member or bolster 6 which in turn is rotatably supported on a transverse member 4, the ends of which are pivotally mounted centrally of the side members 1 of the truck frame so as thereby to equalize longitudinally the load transmitted to the axles 2, 2<1>. The truck frame 1 is itself mounted by springs 13 on seats suspended from longitudinal bars 3, the ends of which rest on the axle-boxes. The bolster 6 is prevented, by means of plates 11 on the underframe entering slots in the bolster, from rotating relative to the underframe, but is capable of swivelling on the member 4 through the medium of a turntable 5, while springs 9 are disposed between the ends of the bolster and the underframe to give lateral stability to the body, without affecting to a great degree the load equalization. A pivot pin 8 on the underframe passes through a ball member 15 movable universally in the member 4. In a modification the ends of the transverse member 4 are journalled in supporting elements which are mounted on the bogie frame by transversely disposed laminated springs. In this case the upper leaf springs 7 are dispensed with and the bolster 6 is constrained to move with the underframe by means of depending pins on the underframe engaging apertures in the bolster.
