Abstract

Axle-trucks; springs, arrangement of.-Railway &c. vehicles are provided with a bogie truck having side frames of box girder construction between the web plates of which are arranged the bearing springs which are connected through links to equalizer bars arranged internally or externally of the webs of the side frames. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the side frames comprise web plates c, d connected by channel members a, b and arranged between the webs are the springs f the ends of which are provided with links h having at their top ends pins which pass through apertures i in the webs and are pivoted to equalizer bars situated externally to the side frames. The side frames are gapped for the wheel boxes and at such places the webs are extended upwardly and connected by further channel members e. The side frames are also gapped for the cross members or transoms which may thus be connected to the flange members a, b as shown. In passenger car bogies as shown in Figs. 5 and 6 a separate bolster is provided comprising a flat socket plate o supported by channel members p, q the members q being provided with rubbing plates s<1> coacting with the cross members and with fore and aft steady plates q<2> supported by springs r from transverse leaf springs r<1>. The ends of the leaf springs r<1> are anchored to rockers u supported on castings which are arranged to transfer the load to the longitudinal leaf springs. The central pin of the truck may be adapted to connect the frames of articulated vehicles and as shown the pin is provided with a ball v embraced by a bearing v<1> secured to one of the bodies w while the pin above and below is encircled by bearings v<2> of the other body.
