Abstract
731,150. Injection-moulding machines. STRAHM, A. Dec. 31, 1953 [Jan. 8, 1953], No. 36379/53. Class 87 (2). When injection of plastic material 17 into a mould cavity 5 is to take place the injection piston 2 is advanced from. the Fig. 1 position to the Fig. 2 position, whereby a pipe 4 is protruded beyond the end of the injection nozzle 3 and pushes a core 9 into the mould 8, and the plastic material issues from holes 15 in the end of the pipe and passes into the mould cavity. The pipe and core are normally kept in their idle positions (Fig. 1) by springs 16, 10. The mould shown is for casting a polyethylene head onto a collapsible tube 7 of extruded polyethylene, and is split axially. A plurality of such injection heads may fill simultaneously a plurality of such moulds, the moulds being arranged on a single indexing device.
