Abstract

1389455 Injection-blow-moulding K HEHL 22 May 1972 [25 May 1971] 23914/72 Heading B5A Injection-blow-moulding apparatus comprises relatively movable platens carrying a combined injection/blowing mould comprising two separable halves defining an injection mould cavity and blow mould cavity, an assembly carrying mould cores between the injection and blowing cavities in a plane parallel to the mould separation plane, abutment means defined by the core carrier assembly and the platens to position the assembly axially between the opened die halves and means to rotate the core carrier assembly. The apparatus, Fig. 2, comprises a fixed platen 3 and a movable platen 5 supporting an injection mould 8<SP>1</SP>, 9<SP>1</SP> and a blow mould 94. A rotary shaft 11, 12 carries cores 71 to move an injection moulded preform 13 to the blow mould and, after removal of the finished article 14, an empty core to the injection mould. The cores have ducts for heating oil and blowing fluid; the injection moulds may be heated at 52 and the blow moulds cooled at 53. An abutment collar 43 is mounted on shaft section 12 and another 44 on movable mould plate 8 spaced a distance one half of the displacement of the movable mould half so as to move the core by this distance and locate it for mould closure. Shaft section 11 carries a similar collar 34 which abuts collar 45 on the fixed mounting plate 9. The mould parts provide a plurality of injection and blow-moulding cavities (Fig. 3, not shown), Finished bottles 14 are ejected by air pumped through the blowing mandrel.
