Abstract

In dyeing animal fibres, e.g. wool or silk, in admixture with synthetic linear polyamide fibres, with reservation of the polyamide fibres, an aqueous acidic dyebath is employed containing an acid dyestuff (including metallized and metallizable acid dyestuffs) and a salt of a metal having an atomic number of 3-56 or of ammonium and yielding nitrate, bromide, iodide or thiocyanate ions. Specified salts, which may be employed in admixture, are those of ammonium, sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, barium, zinc and tin. The dyebath may also contain a water-soluble chloride of a metal having an atomic number of 20-56, e.g. zinc chloride, and dispersing agents such as alkyl polyglycol ethers, alkyl aryl sulphonates, alkyl sulphates and fatty acid condensation products, examples of which are given. Numerous examples are given in one of which (example 6) the dyestuff is chromed on the fibre.
