Abstract
730,063. Fibre drafting arrangements. CASANOVAS, J. M. S. Dec. 23, 1952, No. 32560/52. Classes 120(1) and 120(2). A double-belt drafting mechanism has two condensers connected together for simultaneous traverse movements and located at the entrance to the belts and delivery rollers and means of low electrical conductivity mounted on the belt cradle in contact with the lower belt for removing fibres from its surface. Because the condensers 18, 19 are coupled together by the two extensions 20, 21, they move in unison mainly under the influence of the thicker part of the sliver in front of the belts 7, 8. If the top belt 8 and its roller 4 are removed, the condenser 18 hangs from the cross piece 13. In order to facilitate the introduction of the condenser 19, the plates 12 of the cradle have slots 27, 28 into which the arms 9, 10 of a tensor may be lifted. Tensors having different spacings between the arms are accommodated in the slot 28 by the formation of notches on the underside of the arm 10. The lower cross piece 14 of the cradle is covered by a piece 15 of leather or other material that is a poor conductor of electricity.
