In a suction cleaner nozzle 1, Fig. 1, having an internal thread removing comb 6 carried by a plate or frame 9 vertically adjustable between operative and inoperative positions by external means, e.g. a handle 17, the comb 6 extends across the entire width of the nozzle casing and the comb teeth 7 extend below the nozzle mouth when in the operative position. The carrier 9 to which the comb 6 is secured by spring clips is of inverted dish form and has a vertical rib 22 carrying a mounting 23 with a helical groove 21 engaged by pins 20 projecting from a handle shaft 16. Flanges 15 at the ends of the carrier 9 together with a plate 24 support the nozzle at a height above the floor depending on the position of the handle with respect to a plurality of graduated projections on the nozzle casing which engage an aperture in said handle. The groove 21 has horizontal ends to lock the comb in its terminal position. In a modification a thread remover 46, Fig. 5, extends along both longitudinal edges of the nozzle and is formed as a frame having longitudinal portions 44 joined at the ends by portions 45 and having flanges 53 engaging nozzle abutments 53, 54 in the inoperative and operative positions respectively. The comb 46 is secured by lugs 48 to a carrier frame 47 which is adjusted vertically by abutment of one or other of two edges of a triangular, sectioned member 49 pivoted about a handle operated shaft 50 at its third edge against upper and lower carrier frame faces 65, 62. In a further modification wherein the comb extends substantially throughout the whole periphery of the nozzle, the comb carrier comprises a U-shaped frame having rectangular recesses engaged by a T- shaped pivoted handle actuated frame adjusting member.
