Abstract

696,304. Suction cleaners. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Feb. 15, 1951 [Feb. 16, 1950], No. 3693/51. Class 8 (i). In a suction cleaner of the cylinder type having a skid 2 Fig. 1 and a detachable end cover 4 permitting removal of a dust bag 6 Fig. 3 the skid is pivoted at points 3 in or attached to the cleaner shell 1 at the end remote from the cover 4 and is so shaped at the other end as to engage recesses 5 in the cover 4 and exert an end pressure thereon to maintain the cover in its closed position. On swinging the cleaner to a vertical position for removal of the bag 6 the skid 2 forms a support for the shell 1. A skid section 2b serves as a handle and in a modification the shell is steadied in its vertical position by engagement of a projection thereof with a part of the skid.
