Abstract

657,000. Toasters. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. Jan. 26, 1949, No. 2160. Convention date, Jan. 27, 1948. [Class 28(i)] The base or the removable crumb tray 9 of a toaster is provided with a scraper frame 17, 18 movable over the tray (or base only) by a handle 23, 24 to loosen crumbs from the tray. The tray or base has slots 29, 30 and 31 through which crumbs are swept by the scraper to fall on a piece of paper or cloth placed beneath. The opening 29, 30 are temporarily masked by the scaper frame when returned to position by the spring 27. The opening 31 is masked from falling crumbs. The crumb tray 9 may be secured to the base by its hingelike lugs 10 on one edge taking into slots (12, not shown), in the base and is secured at the other side by spring clip 11.
