728,407. Garment waistbands. KAUFMAN, A. S. Jan. 5, 1953, No. 320/53. Class 141. Trousers, skirts &c. having a fly or placket opening extending downwardly from the top edge thereof are characterized by an elongated elastic waistband 14 secured in a stretched condition around the top edge 12 and having its free ends 15, 16 overlapped over the opening in wear, and aligned non-elastic belt members 17, 18 secured at their outer ends 19, 20 to the elastic member 14 on opposite sides of the opening. Means, such as a button 24 and buttonhole 25, are provided to secure the ends of the elastic waistband together and means, such as a buckle 22 on the member 18 and holes 21 in the member 17 are provided for securing the inner ends of the belt members. The lower end of the elastic member 14 may be folded over and attached to the garment by an additional line of stitching providing a means of adjustment.
