Abstract

820,019. Garment waistbands. LEVY (LONDON) Ltd., G., and LEVY, G. G. Jan. 2, 1958, No. 224/58. Class 141 A discontinuous waistband includes an elastic belt slidably held either in a tunnel 2 or by a series of loops, and inextensible tabs 7a, 7b, stitched to one end of the waistband and provided with releasable fastening means for attachment to the respective ends of the elastic belt. The fastening means may comprise buckles, or, as shown, buttons 10, 9 on the tabs for engagement with buttonholes 5, 6 in the ends of the elastic belt. The tab 7a has also a buttonhole 11 for engagement with a button 12 on the other end of the waistband: the tab 7b preferably has one or more extra buttons 8 to allow for adjustment. The tabs 7a, 7b may be the end portions of a single strap stitched at its centre portion to the waistband, and the width of the centre portion may differ from that of the tabs. Alternatively the tabs may be separate and attached to the waistband at spaced positions.
