Abstract
697,622. Garment waistbands. WILSON, J. K. Aug. 27, 1951 [Sept. 25, 1950], No. 23437/50. Class 141. Waistband supporting means of the type comprising a strap or straps extending within the waistband from a point near the centre of the back around opposite sides and comprising inextensible terminal sections and elastic intermediate sections is characterised in that they are connected to the waistband at the back thereof so as to permit negligible circumferential movement and the terminal sections are so connected at each side of the front as to permit substantial circumferential movement and are connectable with each other. As shown, the means comprises a belt having inelastic sections F, L and elastic sections J. Buttons D and transverse buttonholes G anchor the section F to the waistband whilst buttons E and elongated slots O permit circumferential movement of the section L. The belt is fastened by a hook M and loop N. In an alternate construction, the belt is formed in two parts, the central section F being replaced by a buttonholed tab secured to each part.
