Abstract
728,329. Towelling &c. dispensers. KNOX, G. Dec. 23, 1953 [April 13, 1953], No. 9994/53. Class 18. In an apparatus for dispensing towelling &c. from a continuous web, one of the delivery rolls is locked and then released after each set length has been pulled. As shown, the deliveryroll 1 is provided with a pin 2 which co-operates with a stop member 5 pivotally mounted at 10 on a lever 4 which is pivoted at its top on the side plate 3 of the cabinet. The member 5 rides on a fixed stop 9 which also limits the movement of the lever 4 in its two extreme positions. A shoulder 11 on the lever 4 cooperates with a latch 12 which is pivoted at 13 to the plate 3, the edge 14 of the latch being tapered so that it may be lifted by the pin 2 as the roll is rotated. In operation the roll 1 is engaged and rotated by the web W whereupon the pin 2 engages the member 5 and pulls the lever 4 against the action of the spring 7 causing the latch 12 to fall and cooperate. with the shoulder 11. As long as tension is exerted on the web W, the pin 2 presses on the stop 5, but when the tension is relaxed the stop 5 drops and the roll can continue its rotation on a fresh pull on the web W to lift the latch 12 and return the parts to normal under the action of the spring 7. A' time delay device may be applied to the stop 5 to delay its drop.
