[Also in Group XXI] In a machine, to prevent, oil and dirt passing between a driven mechanism and an electric motor driving it, the motor and the mechanism being housed in separate, contacting casings, the contacting end walls of the casings are shaped so that a chamber 6, having a drainage hole 7, is formed between them. A clutch is housed in this chamber, and the driving and driven parts 11 and 13 of the clutch are each coupled to a rotatable shaft of the adjacent mechanism. Each shaft extends through and has a sealing engagement with an opening in the end wall of the associated casing. The mechanism may be the driving gear of a haulage winch or a cutter head of a mineral-mining machine.
