727,639. Filling receptacles. AVERYHARDOLL, Ltd. Oct. 16, 1953 [April 14,1953], No. 28633/53. Addition to 724,064. Class 21. [Also in Groups XVIII and XXIX] In a receptacle filling device of the kind described with reference to Fig. 5 of the parent Specification a cavity 24 is provided in the shroud 11c enclosing the jet 12 and the pressure intake 13 in which a ball 24a is housed. If the device is in any position other than the correct operating position the ball 24a leaves the cavity 24, interrupts the liquid flowing from jet 12 to the intake 13 and thereby causes the main valve 2 to close. A plug 25a made of material fusible at certain temperatures may also be fitted on the device so that on fusing, e.g. in cases of fire, it relieves the pressure in chamber 9e and thereby causes the main valve 2 to close. Also in the modification shown the control lever 5 and associated stem 7 act directly on the second auxiliary valve 20 by which initial pressure is transmitted to open the main valve 2 and piston 9d and the valve 20 is so located that it acts as a stop for the movement of the piston 9d the position of the stop and hence the quantity of the main flow being determined by the position of the control lever 5. In another modification two nozzle and pressure intake systems similar to those shown in Fig. 12 of the parent Specification, but both operating under normal filling conditions and cutting out in succession as the receptacle fills, are described.
