Abstract

727,595. Abrasive tools. THOMPSON, G. H. Sept. 9, 1953 [June 25, 1952], No. 15943/52. Class 60. A sanding and polishing head comprises a rubber or like disc a having shallow coned front and rear faces of substantially equal angle. Two discs f, g of abrasive material are secured to the head and to each other at their peripheries by adhesive and are located on the front and rear faces, respectively, by a pip e and a boss c. The included angle between the two faces is preferably 10 degrees and the peripheral edge of the disc, which may be made from a plastic material having physical characteristics similar to those of rubber, has a vertical chamfer. The head is connected to its driving-shaft by a screwthreaded steel sleeve d moulded into the boss c, and is stated to resist distortion by centrifugal force.
