Abstract

727,375. Suction cleaners; cable reels. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. July 29, 1953 [July 30, 1952], No. 21037/53. Classes 8 (1), 8 (2) and 99 (2). An electrical appliance, e.g.' a tank type suction cleaner has a cord neck drum 28, Fig. 2, coaxial with and secured to a rotatably mounted fitting, e.g. a dust-laden air inlet 9 and comprising a flange 29 adjacent the cleaner body 1 for supporting the cord 5, Fig. 1, which has one end secured to the body and the other end provided with a plug 7, a recess 31 for holding said plug when not in use and an offset handle 32 for rotating the air inlet and drum when winding in the cord 5. Spaced bearing plates 15, 18 screwed to the ends of the drum 28 and inlet 11 respectively slide on gaskets 17, 20 on opposite faces of the top of the body 1; and the neck of the filter bag 21 is held against a supporting dome 22 by a sponge rubber sealing - gasket 23. A carrying handle 24 is pivoted to the inlet 9 at a pin 27.
