Abstract

816,416. Suction cleaners. SINGER MANUFACTURING CO. Dec. 23, 1957 [Jan. 15, 1957], No. 39817/57. Class 8(1). [Also in Group XXX] A motor-fan suction cleaner of the vertical canister type is rotatably mounted on a base 34 from which extends an electric cord 73 connected to slip rings 67, 68 mounted in the base and which conduct current through brushes 71, 72 carried by a strip of insulation material 53 secured to the bottom plate 31 of the cleaner casing 16 to leads 83, 84 connected to the motor and to a switch 26, Fig. 1 (not shown) on the side of the casing. The bottom plate 31 is carried on ball bearings 36 and rotates about a vertical screw bolt 44 on swinging the suction hose connected to the casing top. Fan exhaust passing through ports 33 is silenced by a sleeve of material 80 surrounding the lower end of the casing 16. The cord 73 is wound round a conventional spring-loaded reel 61 capable of rotation round the bolt 44 independently of the cleaner casing. A blower hose connection 27 (not shown) is provided at the side of the casing 16.
