Abstract

710,241. Suction cleaners. HOOVER, Ltd. Aug. 26, 1952 [Sept. 1, 1951], No. 21446/52. Classes 8 (1) and 8 (2). The mouth of a generally tubular filter bag 46 of a suction cleaner having a suction end cap 30 is clamped against a seating 24 forming the margin of an opening in the cleaner casing 10 through which the bag is inserted by means including a clamping ring e.g., a rubber ring 36 capable of being placed in position to clamp the bag mouth before the end cap 30 is closed. When positioning the bag 46, which is of paper surrounded by a removable cloth bag 27 having a hem ring 26 by which the bag is supported, its mouth is arranged to project beyond the seating 24 and the ring 36 is then inserted so as to hold the mouths of both bags. The cap 30 and ring 36 carry hinges 39, 38 having a common pivot 40, and a spring pin 44 carried by the cap 30 and engaging a recess 43 in the clamping ring 36 serves to loosen the ring on opening the cap.
