Abstract

786,443. Suction cleaners. DIXON & CO., Ltd., R. G. May 11, 1956 [May 11, 1955], No. 13670/55. Class 8(1). A motor-fan suction cleaner of the vertical canister type comprises an upper compartment c supported on a trolley a and in which is located a filter g and the motor-fan unit d, e, and a lower compartment b which is detachably secured against a sealing washer t by a pair of parallel links s actuated by a lever (not shown) and houses a flexible dust bag p held by a rubber band q round an opening i in the base of the upper compartment c ; the air pressure in the two compartments being equalized through an aperture n in the base j having a dust-proof cover-plate o. In operation dust-laden air entering a pipe m is deflected by an elbow k against the base resulting in most of the dust falling into the bag p whilst the remainder is trapped by the filter g, and on lowering the compartment b relative to the compartment c and pulling the bag p which may be of paper away from a flange r of the opening i the neck of the bag is substantially closed.
