Abstract

727,220. Cable couplings; binding posts; terminal boards. GARNEROT & CO. (CONSOLIDATED AGENCIES), Ltd. Aug. 17, 1953 [Aug. 16, 1952], No. 22605/53. Class 38 (1). A junction-box comprises an insulating body 1 and, for each pole, a pair of spring-urged insulating clamping members 7 and a bridging contact 4 situated in apertures 2, 9 in the body and clamping-members respectively. In order to connect two leads, the appropriate clamping member for each lead is depressed, the lead 20 inserted, and the clamping member then released. Recesses 11 are formed in the bridging contact to retain it in the members 7, and a slot 12 enables the member 7 to be depressed by a screw-driver. The lower surface of each member may be formed by a ridged or corrugated metal plate 15 (Fig. 3) and the height of the clamping members may be so reduced that a tool is necessary to depress them (Fig. 5, not shown).
