Abstract
726,976. Assembling force fits. AKTIEBOLAGET SVENSKA KULLAGERFABRIKEN. Jan. 23, 1953 [Jan: 25, 1952], No. 2061/53. Class 83 (4). The inner face of a roller bearing is located endwise on a shaft by means of a shrink-ring which is provided with a passage through which a medium, e.g. oil, can be introduced under pressure to the inter-engaging surfaces of the shrink-ring and the shaft to facilitate mounting and dismounting the shrink-ring. In one embodiment (Fig. 1) a shrink-ring 2, provided with a passage 3 for admitting pressure fluid, is mounted on an axle 1 and between the inner race ring 4 of a roller bearing is a loose flange 5 forming part of the outer race ring. The shrink-ring may be annularly extended to dispense with the loose flange and it may be provided with an extension 5a (Fig. 3) projecting over the end of the inner race ring 4a, said extension acting as a guide flange for the rollers. The passage for fluid pressure may be provided in the shaft instead of the shrink-ring. In another embodiment the shrink-ring 2c (Fig. 5) may extend around the end of the shaft to form a pressure chamber 6 having an opening 7 for introducing fluid pressure for removing the shrink-ring.
