Abstract
726,164. Cable end-sleeves; cable joints, TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L. M. ERICSSON. Oct. 28, 1953 [Nov. 4, 1952], No. 29792/53. Classes 36 and 38 (1). A pressure-tight sealing device for the end of a cable 3 comprises an outer solderable metal sleeve 10 sealed at one end by an insulating plug 11 of material having similar mechanical properties to neoprene or polythene, through which conductors 12, insulated with material similar to that of the plug 11, are tightly held so as to project beyond the ends of the sleeve 10. One end of an inner metal sleeve 5, which covers splices between the conductors 12 and the cable conductors 31, may be inserted in the sleeve 10 and is soldered thereto and to the cable sheath at 51 and 35 respectively. The plug 11 may be compressed about the conductors 12 by forming peripheral grooves in the sleeve 10, and the plug and insulated conductors may be vulcanized together. The conductors 31 may be paper insulated and the splices may be enclosed in paper sleeves 4.
