Abstract
725,386. Aerials. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE. May 21; 1953 [May 21, 1952], No. 14266/53. Class 40(7). A slotted aerial system comprises two aerial units arranged end-to-end about a common axis and designed for operation at different frequencies, the unit designed for operation at the higher frequency having a larger number of slots than the other. The two units preferably comprise tubular conductors, in which the slots are cut, arranged one above the other. The tubular conductors may be of the same transverse dimensions or the upper one may be the smaller. Equal transverse dimensions of the units can be obtained when the numbers of slots in the units are approximately in the same ratio as the frequencies and such dimensions should be sufficiently large to permit an engineer to ascend inside the system. Fig. 3 shows an embodiment with one aerial unit comprising 6 elements 1 having two diametrically opposed slots, a non-radiating spacer unit, and a unit operating at a higher frequency consisting of 8 elements, 2 each with 4 slots. The elements are rigidly attached to each other and to the top of a mast 5. Stays 6 and 7 may be provided. For omnidirectional operation the elements in each unit may be staggered circumferentially.
