Assembling force fits.-A method of securing radial ribs 1 on a curved or straight tube 4 consists in forming each rib with a central aperture 2 of such dimensions that when flat the rib grips tightly about the tube and with a radial slot 3 extending from the aperture to the periphery of the rib, bending the rib to open up said slot arranging the rib around the tube and restoring the rib to its flat condition to cause it to grip securely on the tube without welding or soldering. A pair of tongs having flat jaws 5 recessed for engagement about the tube 4 are used to flatten the distorted rib. The rib may be circular or square and may have a collar around the central aperture 2.
