Abstract

725,371. Blasting. SOC. L'AIR LIQUIDE, SOC. ANON. POUR L'ETUDE ET L'EXPLOITATION DES PROCEDES G. CLAUDE. April 27, 1953 [April 29, 1952], No. 11630/53. Class 68(1). Explosive is formed in a blast hole by the separate, but simultaneous, introduction of a stream of combustible material in a divided solid or liquid condition and a stream of liquid oxygen. The combustible material is directed into the blast hole 1 from a conduit 13 connected to a valve controlled conduit 14 of a container 9 mounted on a carriage 8. Also mounted on the carriage 8 is a container 10 for sand or other tamping material, which can be directed, as required, on the opening of a gate 12 along a guide spout 11 into the borehole. The oxygen is in a container 2 on a carriage 3 and can be fed into the blast hole by piping 4 and 5. The piping opens into the bottom of the blast hole and in addition has perforations 19 at each zone where it is desired to form an explosive charge. The piping 13 terminates at the upper level of the upper explosive charge. The apparatus may be controlled from and withdrawn to a point remote from the blast hole.
