Abstract
603,045. Blasting. SOC. L'AIR LIQUIDE, SOC. ANON. POUR L'ETUDE ET L'EXPLOITATION DES PROCEDES G. CLAUDE. Nov. 16, 1945, No. 30868. Convention date, Nov. 6, 1944. [Class 9 (i)] Vertical blast holes are charged with liquid oxygen explosives by introducing into the bottom of the blast hole a receptacle containing the liquid oxygen and having a diameter slightly smaller than the blast hole and then introducing solid fuel into the receptacle and finally tamping. Liquid oxygen is poured into a cardboard tube at the entrance to the blast hole, the tube is lowered to the bottom of the hole and the solid fuel is allowed to fall into the tube in powdered form or through a cardboard tube or in sacks. The sacks may be suspended above the tube on the rope used for lowering the tube and thus eventually lowered into the tube. An insulating wooden or cork disc may cover the tube.
