[Class 82(ii)] A method of forming lead shot or similar spherical lead granules comprises allowing drops of the molten metal 1 issuing from a perforated container 2 to fall freely through a reducing or inert gas or liquid. When liquid is used, the granules are removed by means of a rotary valve 10, loss of the liquid such as a mineral oil being prevented by feeding water to the bottom of the chamber 6 before opening the valve.
