Abstract

Stabilised dolomite in the form of powder or in massive form is produced by treating the free lime present in the dolomite with sufficient silica or silica containing material such as sand, olivine or serpentine to form a lime excess of 0,3% to 5% based on the weight of the dolomite above that required to form tricalcium silicate (3 CaO) SiO2. The stabilised dolomite powder can be fired or hydraulically set with water.
