Abstract
700,224. Steel manufacture. DEMAG AKT.- GES. Oct. 10. 1951 [March 30, 1951], No. 23543/51. Class 72 In a process for the production of steel by directing a blast of pure oxygen on to the surface of the molton metal, the blast is delivered by a lance which is moved so that it distributes the blast uniformly over the surface. As shown, a lance 1 is bent at the point where it enters the converter 3, and can be rotated about the axis of its upper part by gearing 7 and 8, thus imparting a circular motion to the end of the nozzle. A small pendulum motion may also be imparted to the lance, the connection 5 to the oxygen conduit 6 then being made through a Cardan or ball-joint.
