Abstract

725,180. Yarn clearers. UNIVERSAL WINDING CO. March 13,1953 [April 1, 1952], No. 6966/53. Class 120 (2). A slub-catcher and yarn clearer comprises a stationary support 16 for the yarn g fed thereacross; a member 30 slidably mounted to move towards and away from the support 16, manually operable means for moving the sliding member 30, such means preferably comprising a screwed stem 35 on the member 30 and a graduated finger disc 36 taking through a slot 31 in a plate 20, a scraper blade 50 pivotally mounted on the member 30, and a spring 55 acting to maintain the blade 50 in abutting relation to the member 30, leaving the desired slit between the blade 50 and the rest 16. The tension in the spring 55 is adjustable by arranging coils thereof on a boss 58 of a plate 56 connected to the member 30. A screw 61 on the member 30 taking into a slot 62 in the plate 20 enables the blade-holder to be fixed after adjustment. A pointer 46 co-operates with the disc 36 and a flat spring 45 biasses the plate 30 downwardly. The slub-catchers may be fitted in combination with a tension device 5 weighted at 6, and a yarn-guiding bail 8.
