724,025. Securing cranks &c. in shafts. DORTMUND - HORDER HUTTENUNION AKT.-GES. Aug. 14, 1952 [Oct. 24, 1951], No. 20467/52. Class 80 (2) [Also in Group XXII]. Cranks I or other parts have bores of oval, triangular, square, hexagonal, sinuous or other non-circular section, shrunk on pins 5 of very nearly the same section (i.e. not necessarily a " sized " fit), to produce stresses which deform the parts to accurate fit, and are subsequently partly relieved by thermal annealing (as by inductive heating) to leave sufficient grip to prevent separation whilst being still not great enough to reduce service life either by combining with load stress or increasing notch sensitivity.
