Abstract

750,463. Chains. TELES SMITH, Ltd. Feb. 8, 1955 [Feb. 8, 1954], No. 3644/54. Class 24. [Also in Group XXIII] The links of a saw chain are secured by rivets each of which comprises a preformed head 6a, a short rivet stud 6b and an intermediate barrel portion 6 of sufficient axial extent to constitute a bearing for one side connecting link 11 and one central link 7. The barrel holes 9 and the stud holes of the side links may be plain or countersunk and, correspondingly, the heads 6a may be flat or countersunk. Each side link may have one barrel hole and one stud hole or one side link may have two barrel holes while the other has two stud holes and the links may be arranged so that the rivets are inserted with heads 6a all on one side of the chain or alternatingly either singly or in pairs.
