Abstract

789,395. Locking nuts. ELASTIC STOP NUT CORPORATION OF AMERICA. July 29, 1955 [Sept. 29, 1954]. No. 21961/55. Class 89(1) [Also in Group XXII] A self-locking nut comprises a body 26, Fig. 5, with a loadcarrying-section 22 and a locking-section 24, which latter consists of thin portions separated by thicker portions 58, 60, 62, 64, Fig. 9, two opposed thin portions being deformed towards the nut-axis. The thin portions are formed by sloping the wall of the body at 38, 40, 42, 44. The nut may have a securing- base 28, in which case the section 22 has a cylidrical exterior. In another arrangement, the nut has no base and the section 22 has a hexagonal exterior, and section 24 has six thin and six thicker portions.
