Apparatus for internal screw-threading of nuts or other work comprises a shoot d from which workpieces c are transferred by a pusher e on to a shank b extending from the smaller end of a tap a, as described in Specification 626,196, and a tool f is provided on the feed end of the tap for removing burrs from the work, or performing preliminary cutting operations on the bore of the work, such as reaming or preliminary tapping, while the work is held against rotation by guides h. To ensure that flats on the work are correctly presented to the flat inner faces of the guides, a locating piece i having a rounded end k is slidable in one guide against the action of a spring j, and further guidance is provided by a bevel m on the other guide and by a pilot pin g on the tool f.
