A switch 10, which may control a heater 46, Fig. 6, is continuously interrupted by the reciprocation of a member 16, the effect of which on the switch is also controlled by a bellows 34 or other member responsive to ambient temperature or pressure or by a hand-operable member. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the member 16 is pivotally carried at 17 by a lever 14 pivoted at 15 and the lever 14 is reciprocated by a thermal self interrupter comprising a bellows 12, a heater 13 for the bellows and a snap-action switch 22, Fig. 3, the operating button 30 of which is engaged by a lever 31 carrying an adjustable slide 32 engaged by the lever 14. Thus the lever 14 is continuously reciprocated and causes in turn the reciprocation of the lever 16 and the intermittent actuation of the button 11 of the snap-action switch 10 the turning of which will however be dependent on the position of the screw 33 which depends on the ambient temperature round the bellows 34 and the adjustment of a dial 35.
